Sharon, VT – Patricia Della Mahon, 75, died on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at her home. She was born on March 21, 1951, in Keene, NH to Henry and Ruth (Labor) Locke; as part of a large family, her mother’s sister Margaret Parker and her uncle Ed helped to raise her in their home. She remained extremely close and dedicated to her aunt and uncle for their entire lives. Growing up as one of eight children in an even larger extended family, she learned early on to be self-sufficient and creative. She could make any plant or garden thrive, preserve any vegetable for use over the winter months, bring any costume or outfit that her children imagined to fruition, create an amazing home-cooked meal out of whatever was on hand, and made the quilts for everyone’s beds.
She provided a loving and open home for not just her children and grandchildren, but also anyone who needed a safe place to land. Everyone under her roof was family. Her career as a certified nurse assistant started in Randolph, but she worked across the Upper Valley.
She is survived by five children Edward Sayers and his wife Maria of Cookeville, VT, Jennifer Young of White River Junction, VT, Sara Bush and her husband Aaron of Saratoga, NY, Margaret “Meg” Spooner and her husband Jeremy of Topsham, VT, and Brianna Mahon and her husband Fred Small of Sharon, VT; two siblings William Locke of Texas and Elaine LaPlante of Pittsburg, PA; her former husband and father of their children Brian Mahon of South Royalton, VT; fifteen grandchildren Elizabeth, Olivia, Henry, Fineas, James, Brandon, Ariel, Dalton, Austin, Ava, Ethan, Andrew, Justin, Gabriel, and Jackson, thirteen great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt Margaret and uncle Ed Parker, two children Christopher Sayers and Angela Currier, and five siblings Fred, Frank, and Robert Locke, Lorraine Hyatt, and Loretta Grover.
A service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held at 3pm on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at the United Church of Chelsea, 13 North Common, Chelsea, VT.
