East Thetford, VT- Patricia D. "Pat" Blake, 81, died peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, at  the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH, surrounded by her loving sisters.

Born in a home in East Thetford on August 11, 1944, Pat was the daughter of Nellie (Harlow) and Louis Harvey Cadwell. She was a lifelong Vermonter and attended Thetford Academy. Pat married Robert A. Blake, Sr. in 1960, and together they made their home in South Royalton before moving to East Thetford.

A woman of many talents and tireless work ethic, Pat wore many hats over the years. She worked at GW Plastics and the Woolen Mill, worked at a lingerie shop in Bethel, served as postmistress, cleaned houses, and worked at Pompanoosuc Mills. She also contributed her time to her community through the town selectboard, and the water works department. Later, she worked at Gray's Auction while she was employed as a teller at Merchants Bank in East Thetford. After retiring from the bank, she continued to work for Gray's Auction.

Pat had a deep love for family. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together and belonged to a square-dancing group. She especially cherished annual trips to Maine with her sisters and nieces, where they honored loved ones by placing flowers in the ocean. She found joy in watching birds, especially cardinals. Pat was known for her warmth, hospitality, and incredible cooking. Holidays were always special at Pat's home, where she welcomed guests with her delicious home-cooked meals and generous spirit.

Pat is survived by her husband, Robert A. Blake, Sr., and son, Robert A. Blake, Jr. of East Thetford; sisters, Wendy Cook of West Fairlee, Susan Cadwell-Brown of Fairlee, Nancy Palm of Massachusetts, and her brother, Peter Cadwell of Fairlee. She also leaves behind a vast number of extended relatives and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to watch the birds, bake something for someone you love, or place a flower in the water in her memory.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 13 at the Fairlee Community Church of Christ. A celebration of life will follow at the Bradford Senior Center.
