West Windsor, VT – Pamela "Pam" Jane Stanley, 77, died Friday, June 25, 2021, at the Mt Ascutney Hospital and Heath Center, in Windsor, Vermont. She was born September 23, 1943 in Portland, ME the daughter of Bernard and Carol R. (Hilton) Watts. She grew up in Portland and graduated from Deering High School in 1961. Pam attended Maine School of Nursing in Portland, ME and graduated with her nursing degree.
Pam married Thomas Kent Stanley on May 29, 1964. They made their home in South Portland, Me where she then worked at Mercy Hospital. They later moved to Bellows Falls, VT. She later worked at the Springfield Hospital and the Springfield Nursing Home in Vermont. They moved back to Maine where she worked at Pineland in Gray Me. Later they moved to West Fairlee, Vermont where she started raising her family and then moved to Ascutney, VT before settling into their home in West Windsor, Vermont. Pam worked at the Ascutney Hospital and then at Valley Regional in Claremont, NH where she worked for most of her career. Most recently she took her nursing skills to Cedar Hill Nursing Home retiring in 2013.
Pam had many interesting hobbies, many of which she shared with her husband Tom. She enjoyed traveling around to Amateur HAM Radio Fests, where she and Tom (KA1T) would search for equipment and visit with many of their friends. She also collected Stamps and was a member of the Upper Valley Stamp Collecting Organization. She helped with Genealogy searches that both Tom and their daughter Barbara took part in. Pamela is a 3 line descendant of Mayflower passengers William White, William Brewster and Stephen Hopkins. Pam was an accomplished gardener and loved spending time in her beautiful flower gardens. During their working careers and into their retirement they enjoyed countless retreats to the family Camp on Little Sebago Lake in Maine and to the Stanley family's camp on Lake Willoughby where they enjoyed fishing and hunting and just relaxing.
She was a student licensed pilot and loved flying around New England with Tom in their small Cessna 152 II plane which they kept at the Lebanon NH Airport and at the Springfield, VT Airport. Pamela still preferred the plane to driving a car any day.
She was predeceased by a brother, David Watts.
Pam is survived by her husband, Thomas K. Stanley, daughter, Barbara Buinicky and her husband, Shawn, of Lexington, SC, and their son Gideon, son, Jeffery Mark Stanley and his wife Traci Lynn of Dover, DE, and their daughter Jecilyn and their son Treavor, a brother, Jerry "Joe" Watts and his wife, Mellen, of Gray, ME, three sisters, Vicki Watts of Gray, ME, Debbie Gaydos and her husband Tom of Borrego Springs, CA, Melissa Lekas of Portland, ME, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 2, at 11:00AM in the Shedsville Cemetery in West Windsor, VT.
