WINDSOR, VT
Owen M. VanHise, Jr., 61, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Friday evening, November 18, at his home in Windsor, surrounded by his family.
He was born August 12, 1950 in Springfield, Vermont the son of Owen and Barbara (Richardson) VanHise. He received his schooling in Woodstock and attended Woodstock High School. He married Rhonda J. Hamel in Windsor on February 14, 1976. He was employed at the former Cone Blanchard Machine Tool Company in Windsor, VERAX Corporation and later for Spectra Inc., both in Lebanon. Mr. VanHise was currently employed by the Windsor School District as a school bus driver, where he was fondly known at "Pappy" by many students.
He was a model railroad enthusiast and an avid fisherman. Owen greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, especially at the ocean.
He was predeceased by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda VanHise of Windsor, his mother, Barbara VanHise of Reading, VT, one son, Oliver VanHise and his wife, Kristle of Windham, Maine, one daughter, Jennifer Newman and her husband, Aaron of Claremont, NH, seven grandchildren, Joshua, Kayla, Noah, Maya, Cameron, Torey and Rebecca, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Monday evening, November 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with Rabbi Thomas Heyn, officiating. Committal services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
