Windsor, VT — Ora D. LaBrake, 74, died Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home in Windsor, surrounded by his family.

Ora was born January 19, 1952, in Malone, NY. He grew up in Malone and attended local schools. He later met and married Sharlene Miller in Connecticut; they were married in 1977. In 1979, they moved to Windsor, where Ora began working at Bud Richards Gulf Service Station, pumping gas and performing oil changes. He later went to work for Miller Construction, where he remained until his retirement in 2016.

Ora enjoyed splitting wood and running his chainsaw, watching wrestling, and riding and caring for his Harley-Davidson. He was known for his willingness to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, as well as for his good-natured teasing. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sharlene LaBrake of Windsor; a daughter, Trina Morton and husband Craig E. of Claremont; a son, Ora LaBrake, Jr.; a brother, Vern LaBrake of Michigan; three grandchildren, Julianna Morton, Dylan LaBrake, and Donna May Morton; many nieces and nephews in New York, Ohio, and Vermont, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Elizabeth (Collett) LaBrake, four sisters Mary, Josie, Elaine, and Clara, and two brothers-in-law Ricky and Mickey.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, followed immediately by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhome.com.
