Obituary

White River Jct., VT. - Obadiah "Obie" M. Stevens, 39, died unexpectedly, early Thursday morning, May 31, 2012 in Danbury, NH.

He was born March 5, 1973 in Poughkeepsie, NY the son of Edward M and Naomi R. (Carlson) Lucas. He grew up in the Lebanon and White River Jct., area. Obie was a gifted athlete as a young boy but due to a medical condition was unable to participate in high school sports while attending Hartford High School.

Obie was a free spirit and marched to a different drummer. After school he traveled around the area and the country working different jobs here and there; making many new friends along the way. He did settle in Bristol, NH for a number of years but soon found himself traveling around once again. Most recently he was employed at Shenanigan's on Sykes Ave. in White River Jct.

He was married to Christine Doyle and even though they divorced a short time later they remained the closest of friends and stayed in contact.

Ob loved all kinds of music but especially the blues including Stevie Ray Vaughan and Muddy Waters. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and for his big heart.

He is survived by his mother and step father, Naomi and Dale Lucas of White River Jct., VT, his father, Edward Stevens of Tijeras, NM, his former wife and dear friend, Christine Doyle of White River Jct., VT, his two step sons, Kyle and Dylan Doyle of White River Jct., VT, several aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends.

A private committal service will be held at the convenience of his family. A memorial gathering will be held Friday, June 8th at 1PM in Clifford Park in West Hartford, (please walk into the park as cars are not allowed at this time). A celebration of his life will follow at Shenanigans in White River Jct. from 2-4PM.
