Norman Totman Powers, 88, passed away on February 29, 2016. He was born April 10, 1927, to Mark E. Powers and Eona Belle Totman in Hanover, New Hampshire. He served in the US Army, US Army Air Corp. and US Air Force from 1945 through his reserve duty ending in 1953. Upon graduation from Burdett Business College in 1950, he completed mortuary science school. He owned and operated Powers' Store, Inc., Powers' Funeral Home, Early American House, and various other business ventures in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont. He belonged to local civic organizations.
Mr. Powers is survived by the love of his life, Irene Gallerani Powers, of Somerville, Massachusetts. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on October 28, 2015. He is also survived by three children, Jan M. Powers, Mark A. Powers (Karen Lauterbach), and Vicki I. Powers (Jeanette Wolfley); four grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
Mr. Powers retired to Bonita Springs and Naples, Florida, in 1987. He was a passionate fisherman and fished all over North America. He was also an avid poker-player and a diligent student of World War II military history. Norm had a great sense of humor, he loved life and doing for his family. He will be greatly missed.
