Obituary

WINDSOR, VT
Norman E. Avery, 85, a longtime resident of Windsor passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, May 20 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Emergency Department in Windsor.
He was born April 17, 1927 in Concord, NH the son of Emery R. and Pearl (McDonald) Avery. He received his schooling in Concord and moved to Windsor in 1944. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II. He married Cecile Cloutier in Windsor on November 4, 1945. Mr. Avery was employed at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor as a laboratory technician for forty three years until his retirement in 1987. He also owned and operated Windsor Printing and Supply for many years at his home in Windsor.
He was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, the Windsor American Legion Post #25 and a member of the Windsor Fire Department.
He was fond of spending time at the family cottage on Lake Sunapee. He enjoyed skiing on Mt. Ascutney and was a member and past president of the Mt. Ascutney Ski Club. Norman instilled the love of skiing to all members of his family including his great grandchildren. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter, and took pleasure working on small engines.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by one brother, Robert Avery.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty six years, Cecile Avery of Windsor, one daughter, Kathleen Avery of Hartford, VT, four sons, Donald Avery and his wife Jacqueline of Brownsville, David Avery and his wife Jean, of Enfield, NH, Dennis Avery of Windsor and Darren Avery and his wife, Shelleen of Claremont, NH, nine grandchildren, Mark Avery, Matthew Avery, Luke Avery, Jessica Avery-Irwin, Ryan Avery, Joshua Avery, Jensen Avery, Anna Avery and Clara Avery, five great grandchildren, Ashley, Emma, Dylan, Austin and Adelyn, several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 24 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. The Rev. Rene Butler, former Pastor, will be the Celebrant. A reception for family and friends will follow in Fellowship Hall at the church. Private committal services will be held at the convenience of his family in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
