Norma H. Benjamin, 97, died peacefully at her home Thursday evening, October 7, 2021.
She was born Mach 10, 1924, one of nine children, to Franklin and DeEtte (Carpenter) Hurd, Norma grew up in West Lebanon and graduated from the West Lebanon High School.
She worked most of her life as an operator at New England Telephone Company in White River Jct. On July 11, 1967, Norma married Reed Benjamin and they shared twenty-seven years of marriage until his passing in 1994.
Norma was a member of the North Hartland Community Church as well as one of the "Bugbee Troopers," a faithful and dedicated member of the Bugbee Senior Center in White River Jct. She loved the outdoors, crocheting and Sunday drives with her husband, Reed.
Her greatest love of all, was her family, including her church family, close friends, and neighbors, all of whom visited and helped Norma tremendously in her final years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reed; grandson Eddie Reed Leavitt; brothers, Vance, Irving, Harry, and Ralph Hurd; sisters, Bertha Nigro, Mildred Crowley, and Helen Smith.
Norma is survived by her stepdaughters, Dorothy Leavitt (Ed) of White River Jct. and Mary Fogg (Nelson) of Wilder, VT; grandchildren, Laurie Braley (Wayne), Rick Leavitt (Cheryl), Conrad Farnham-Leavitt, Nelson (Vicky), Jeff (Jennifer), and Greg (Samantha) Fogg; several great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Norma's family is grateful for the care she received from her caregivers Vicki and Pat, granddaughters Amy and Laurie as well as the entire Bayada team including Jeanette Leavitt and Bobbijo Vail.
A visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Monday October 18th from 2-3PM with a memorial service following at 3PM. Committal with her husband Reed will take place after the service in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. At the request of Norma's family, masks are requested
