White River Jct., VT – Nona A. Pyer, 86, died Thursday October 13, 2016 at the Willows of Windsor in Windsor, VT.
She was born July 6, 1930 in Everett, MA a daughter of Carroll and Constance (Perry) York. Nona grew up and attended school in Everett before her family moved to White River Jct. as a young girl. While working as a waitress at the train station in White River Jct. she met and fell in love with Earl Pyer. They were married August 17, 1950 in White River Jct. where they made their home and raised their five children.
Nona's family was her entire life and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could including hosting family holidays which was a favorite of hers. Before becoming a resident at The Willows, Nona had lived at Greystone Village in White River Jct. for over 25 years and greatly enjoyed her time in the community. Nona also enjoyed walking, crosswords, and in her younger years crocheting and gardening.
She was predeceased by her husband, Earl in 1997, a daughter Linda Leahy just weeks ago; an infant daughter Maureen Ann Pyer; brother James York and sister Barbara Gauthier.
She leaves her children Timothy Pyer and his husband Richard Henderson of White River Jct., Thomas Pyer and his wife Judy of Enfield, NH; Amy Pyer and her partner Jeff Emerson of Bradford, VT and Ellen Roberts of White River Jct.; a son-in-law Timothy Leahy of Peoria, AZ; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
A graveside service will be held at the Hartford Cemetery on Thursday October 20th at 1PM.
