Noel G. Wood

New London, NH – Noel G. Wood, 93, died Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at The Village at White River Junction, Vermont.

Noel was born February 8, 1933, in Shreveport, Louisiana, a daughter of Philip and Nell (Cook) Grant. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in Texas and attended University of New Mexico. She married James R. Wood in 1956.

The couple spent several years living in Rotterdam, The Netherlands for Jim’s job before returning to the U.S. They lived in Manhattan before settling in Bronxville, New York. In addition to many volunteer activities, Noel worked at Concordia College in Bronxville and always enjoyed interacting with the students. In 1985, they moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where Noel started a new career in real estate. Jim passed away in 1991.

In 1992, Noel reconnected with Jim Hester. They had known each other in school when they were teenagers. They resided in New Mexico for a few years before moving to New Hampshire. Together they eventually built a house and settled in New London, New Hampshire where they continued to live until Jim Hester’s death in 2025.

Noel is survived by Karin Wood of Quincy, Massachusetts, and Kyle (Chip) Audett of Canaan, New Hampshire; and her grandson, Jack Audett of Boston, Massachusetts.
