Newell D. Staples
Windsor, VT – Newell D. Staples, 92, died Sunday August 23, 2015 at The Willows of Windsor in Windsor, VT.
He was born June 15, 1923 in Hanover, NH a son of Daniel and Eva (Newell) Staples. He graduated from the Mechanic Arts High School in Boston, MA in 1941 and attended General Radio School in Cambridge, MA for a year before enlisting in the US Air Force. Newell served as a fighter pilot in the South Pacific during World War II. After returning from his military service he was married to Gertrude Esty in Windsor on September 6, 1946. Shortly after, Newell began his thirty one year career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor, retiring in 1978.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and was a member of the American Legion Post #25 in Windsor.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude in 2008. He leaves his son Gary N. Staples and wife Paula, of Hartland, VT and a grandson Tyler P. Staples of Falmouth, MA.
