Nelson H. "Sonny" Johnson

West Lebanon, NH – Nelson H. "Sonny" Johnson, 80, died Thursday April 1st at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

He was born June 2, 1929 in Hanover, NH a son of Nelson P. and Katherine (Bagley) Johnson. After graduating from the West Lebanon High School he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 until 1953. He returned home from the service and began working as a route salesman for Interstate Tire in White River Jct. and in West Lebanon. He was married to Brenda Bean June 22, 1958 in South Royalton; they have lived in West Lebanon most of their married lives. He worked as a driver for Vermont Transit in White River Jct. for many years until retiring in 1994.

Mr. Johnson enjoyed outdoor activities especially hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 2571 and American Legion Post 26 both in White River Jct.

He was predeceased by a daughter Betty McCullough in 1996 and is survived by his wife Brenda Johnson of West Lebanon, a son Guy Johnson of Dunbarton, NH, three grandsons Robert, Cameron and Cory McCullough, two sisters Jackie Jacobs and Joyce Caswell both of White River Jct. and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Tuesday from 10-11AM. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11AM with burial in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
