Bloomfield, VT- Nelson H. Potwin, Jr, 79, died Friday, December 20, 2019 at his daughter's home in White River Junction, VT.

Nelson was born January 9, 1940 in Barnard, VT a son of Nelson and Edith(Sanderson) Potwin. He attended Woodstock Union High School and went on to work at the Springfield Hospital in maintenance for many years. He also worked as a carpenter for sometime and later started a painting business with his son. In the 90's he moved to a camp on the Connecticut River in Bloomfield that he converted into a home. This filled his days and was a true passion of his.

Nelson loved to be in the outdoors, playing horseshoes, and enjoyed working in the woods, Hunting deer and rabbits, he also enjoyed fishing. But his greatest passion was his family and he loved to spend time with all of them especially his granddaughters.

Nelson is predeceased by his parents Nelson and Edith, son Nelson, III and three brothers Frederick, Richard and David Potwin.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeanette Leavitt and her husband Steven; two grand daughters Bailey and Courtney Leavitt  all of White River Junction; his beloved beagle Bella; a sister Sylvia Baird of St. George, UT; six brothers Charles, Sr. of South Royalton, Paul of Taftsville, Roland of Royalton ,VT, Ralph of Roxbury, VT, Howard of MI, and Dennis of FL; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Nelson's Life will be held at a later date. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.
