Brownsville, VT - Nancy Harris Ross passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026. She was born in Yonkers, New York, in September of 1933 to Dorothy K. Harris and William B. Harris. Nancy moved to Bernardsville, New Jersey, in 1949 and graduated from Bernards High School in 1951. After graduating from high school, Nancy trained as a draftsman at Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey.

In 1953, she married Donald Mott Ross of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church. After Don enlisted in the Navy, they moved to Long Beach, California, for two years before returning to Basking Ridge.

Her whole life centered around her family. Her husband and four children: Cathy Anne Ross, Scott Benner Ross, Suzanne Ross Krawczyk and husband James Krawczyk, and Betsy Ross Duany and husband Patrick Duany. Her world grew even bigger with the arrival of her eleven grandchildren: Brooke Peiffer and McKenzie Jansen; Emily (Ross) Crossman and Thompson Ross; Alexa, Hannah Duncan, Caroline, Alden, and Theodore Krawczyk; and Alli and Andrew Duany. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Abilene and Raiden Crossman, Bingham and Crockett Ross, and Walker Jansen.

She loved to read, travel, and bake, especially Christmas cookies, which she shared with her children and grandchildren. After moving to Brownsville, Vermont, in 1988, she spent most of her time gardening and immersing herself in art. She loved painting portraits, landscapes, and family portraits in oil and watercolor. A well-known local artist, Nancy enjoyed her peaceful life in Vermont. From taking her grandchildren on outings to Quechee Gorge Village to always keeping her candy jar stocked with peanut M&M’s, her life was filled with love and family.

In December of 2024, Nancy moved to The Village in White River Junction, Vermont, where she enjoyed dancing to any beat she could find. She appreciated the simple things in life at The Village and especially loved having ice cream with each meal.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Donald Ross and is survived by her four children, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Nancy’s wishes are for a private graveside burial

In lieu of flowers, Celebrate Nancy, enjoy some ice cream, catch a beat and dance.
