White River Jct., VT – Muriel "Ted" C. Wagoner, 99, died Saturday morning, July 28, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born November 9, 1918 in Orange, Vermont the daughter of Claude and Nellie Mae (Cook) Clark.
She spent most of her early childhood years in Orange, Vt. On March 10 th , 1934, Muriel married Laurence Russell of Tunbridge Vt. They worked on the farm and started to raise their family of 8 children. Muriel later married Ralph G. Wagoner of Sharon, VT on January 2, 1952. Ted resided in the Vermont towns of Tunbridge, Royalton, Quechee, and East Barnard and later in White River Jct., VT.
During her working career, along with raising her eight children, Ted held full time employment as a waitress, factory worker, laborer and a caretaker. During that time she worked for the Butch's Diner, Polka Dot, and the Hotel Coolidge in White River Jct., VT, The Hanover Inn in Hanover, NH, Brooksies Diner in Sharon, VT, Ted also worked in several Woolen Mills in the Upper Valley, with her longest employment at G.W. Plastics in Bethel, VT. Following her "retirement" Ted shared caretaking responsibilities with her husband at The Ellis Farm, as well as housekeeping in East Barnard. For the past several years she has lived and been under the loving care of her daughter "Bert" Wilcox & Blake, "her Great-Great Grandson", of White River Jct., VT where her days were often brightened by her Great-Great Grandchildren.
Ted enjoyed and was very skilled at crocheting, needle point and embroidery. She also was an avid reader and puzzle book fan. She was a very good cook and an extremely hard worker. During her time in East Barnard, VT she often donated her time and skills to the local Grange Hall and the Volunteer Fire Department, her favorite event was the Oyster Stew supper.
Her first husband, Laurence Russell died in Feb. 1996. Her husband Ralph died January 1997. She was also predeceased by two sons, Elwin "Sarge" Clark and David Russell, two daughters, Maybelle McCrillis, and Phyllis McCrillis and two brothers, Edwin "Jip" Clark, Oscar Clark, three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Beede, Arlene "Nig" Goodrich, and Madelyn "Red" Ricker.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence Russell of Claremont, NH, three daughters, June Gould of Newport, NH, Rose Whitney of Roxbury, VT, and Alberta "Bert" Wilcox of White River Jct., VT. She had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great, grandchildren and one great, great, great, grandchild, "6 Generations", As well as brothers, Aldo Clark of Vershire, VT, & Duane Clark of Bloomfield, CT, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on August 11 th at 10:00 a.m. at the Branch view Cemetery in South Royalton, VT with a reception after.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association. The Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT has been entrusted with arrangements.
