Ascutney, VT - Muriel L. Hood, 93 died January 31, 2020 at, Cedar Hill Nursing Home after a brief illness, but a long and arduous battle with Dementia. She was a gallant fighter to the end.

Muriel was born May 17 ^th , 1926 to Edgar & Gladys (Briggs) Campbell in Woodstock, where she spent her youth, graduating from Woodstock High School in 1943.

Muriel married Temple Hood January 22, 1946.  She worked as a secretary at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for many years and later for the State of Vermont in the unemployment office.  She traveled around the State of Vermont taking claims.  She loved her job and her co-workers.

Muriel moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1978 with her beloved husband, Temple. Upon moving to Tucson, AZ she worked as a dispatcher for several years and enjoyed that time of employment as well.   After 30+ years in Tucson, the Hood's decided to return to Vermont to be near family, where they lived out the rest of their years.

She enjoyed being a part of the American Legion #48 in Hartland, VT while living there, and in later years at the American Legion Auxilary Unit 22 in W. Lebanon, NH. She also enjoyed attending TOPS and "Darnit" as well as spending time at their summer home on Mascoma Lake in Lebanon, NH.  Muriel sold tickets to, and served at the well known Hartland Turkey Suppers for many years.

She is predeceased by the love of her life, and husband of 73 years, Temple W. Hood. She is also predeceased by all of her four siblings, Bill Campbell, Lucille Craig, Gladys Morrill & Donald Campbell.

Muriel is survived by her daughters, Sandra J. Guaraldi (Husband Leonard) of W.  Lebanon, NH and Nancy L. Weidman (Husband Jonathan) of Kissimmee, Florida; a son;  Lee B. Hood of Ft. Myers, Florida; two foster children, Stephen DeMaroney (wife Laura) of South Burlington, VT and Janet Sanchez of Tucson, AZ; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as a sister-in-law Irene Campbell of Hartland, VT; and several nieces & nephews.

In honor of Muriel's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A double graveside service for Muriel and Temple will be held on June 20, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Hartland village Cemetery.  Immediately following, there will be a Celebration of their Lives at the home of Leonard and Sandra Guaraldi, 53 Trues Brook Road, W. Lebanon, NH 03784.  Family and friends are all welcome.
