WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VERMONT
Mona A. Luce, 80, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
She was born January 29, 1930 in Hartford, Vermont, the daughter of Dayton and Bertha (Davis) Atchinson. She attended school in White River Junction. In 1949 she went to work for New England Telephone & Telegraph as an operator. In 1955 she married Fred Luce in White River Junction. She continued to work at the phone company with some time off to raise her family. In 1985 she retired after a collective 35 years of service.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but most of all she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother.
She is predeceased by: her husband, Fred Luce Sr. in 2003; four brothers Albert Atchinson, Gordon Atchinson, Vernon Atchinson and Arthur Atchinson and a sister Evelyn Wheeler.
She is survived by: two sons, Peter M. Luce of Enfield, New Hampshire and Fred A. Luce Jr. of Lebanon, New Hampshire; two daughters, Cathy Wooley of Englewood, Florida and Shirley Nelson of Garden Grove, California; twelve grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren; and a sister Aleda Daneau of Nashua, New Hampshire
Friends may call Sunday at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, from 4-6 PM. A funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home Monday at 1PM.
