Obituary

Mead, WA – Mitchel Paul Brehm, 63, died unexpectedly on Friday October 17, 2025, at Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, NH.

He was born April 10, 1962, in Clinton, OK a son of Donald Glen and Zela Deane (Hines) Brehm. After graduating from Clinton High School, Mitchel moved to New York City to serve at the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses for a year and a half. While there he met Helen Burch who was living in Oklahoma, and they continued their friendship after returning home to Oklahoma and when Mitchel moved to Whitefish, MT. The couple was married September 5, 1998, in Midwest City, OK and began a home together in Columbia Falls MT. They operated a window blind and shade company in Montana and then in the Spokane area when they moved to Washington state, where they have lived for the past 23 years. Mitchel later worked as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and most recently has worked with adults with disabilities at Spokane Community College.

Mitchel has been very active with the Jehovah's Witnesses throughout his life, serving in many capacities including volunteering with Local Design and Construction and was helpful in establishing a local ASL congregation in Spokane.

He enjoyed watching and reading all types of journalism to keep up with current affairs, especially those around the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Mitchel loved his house cats, despite his allergies, and also had a very green thumb spending countless hours in the garden tending to his flowers and plants.

He leaves his wife, Helen, of Mead, WA and a brother, John Brehm (Lytza) of Patterson, NY.

A memorial service will take place at 2pm on Saturday, November 8 at Rogers High School in Spokane, WA.

Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT has been entrusted with arrangements.
