Hartford, VT – Minta M. Koloski, 88, died Tuesday morning March 12, 2019 at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, NH.
She was born October 15, 1930 in Red Fox, KY one of twelve children of Burnett and Tina (Blair) Ison. Minta's family lived in the Red Fox area including many years in a log cabin in Breedings Creek. She attended a one room school house for years before graduating from Hindman High School in 1950 and then went to Lee Community College in Toccoa Falls, GA.
On a trip to New Jersey to visit her brother she met Joseph R. "Bunny" Koloski, who was then stationed at Fort Dix. They were married August 4, 1952 in Paterson, NJ and after his discharge from the Army made their home and raised their family on Mr. Koloski's family farm in Hartford. In addition to helping on the farm and raising their children she worked at Dewey's Mills and the Hartford Woolen Mill and later at Split Ball Bearing in Lebanon until retiring in the mid 1990's
Minta enjoyed square dancing with her husband, attending events at the Hartford Historical Society as well as gardening, quilting and crocheting. She also enjoyed going to reunions and company picnics at Split Ball.
She was predeceased her husband, Joe, in 1986; by ten of her brothers and sisters and a daughter-in-law Deborah Koloski.
She leaves her children Randy Koloski of Sharon, VT, Mary Merchand and husband Larry of North Tunbridge, VT, Daniel Koloski of Randolph Center, VT, Timothy Koloski and wife Ann of Lebanon, NH and Mark Koloski and partner Christine of Wilder, VT; grandchildren Justin, Michael, Kacie, Ryan, Laura, Christopher, Jordan, Kyla, Alana and Sierra; several great-grandchildren; a sister Martha Taylor of Jeremiah, KY and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Saturday March 16 th from 1-2PM with a funeral service following at 2PM with Pastor Joe Scearbo officiating. Burial will be in the Hartford Cemetery later in the spring.
