Bradford, Vermont – Milton James "Jim" Emerson, 83, died early Wednesday morning, March 18, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Born on November 13, 1931 in Bradford, Vermont, he was the son of Leon and Violet Isabel (Lower) Emerson.
Jim grew up in Bradford, VT and attended school at the Bradford Academy. He served his country in the US Army as a Private First Class during the Korean conflict. He worked for a time at the R. Baker Poultry Farm in Bradford, VT. Later he worked at the Plastic Plant located in East Hampton, CT where he lived for eight years. Returning to Bradford he was employed at Channel Mills in Bradford,VT, Butson's Supermarket in Woodsville, NH, and his last place of employment was at the Stop & Shop Supermarket in Piermont, NH where he had worked for over twelve years until he retired.
Jim enjoyed going to the One Eleven Club in Woodsville, NH and dancing until his feet hurt, hunting, watching birds, raising his pigs and going to auctions.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a sister Marie Capen of Bradford, VT.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Alan Emerson and Ronald James Emerson both of Bradford, VT, three daughters, Darlene Sanborn of Bradford, VT, Patricia Palmer of East Corinth, VT, Jamie Smith of Groton, VT., 10 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren, three brothers, Donald Emerson of East Hampton, CT, Burton Emerson of Walpole, NH, and Maurice Piper of Harwinton, CT as well as many nieces an nephews.
At his request there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held May 8th at 4pm in the Fairlee Cemetery in Fairlee, VT.
