Obituary

Windsor, VT - Mildred Ciccarelli died peacefully at Mt. Ascutney Hospital on November 15th, 2019 at age 96. Born in Brooklyn, NY September 2, 1923 to Angela (Romaneli) Toronto and Peter Toronto. She grew up in Lodi, New Jersey. She married Guy Ciccarelli on October 27, 1946.

Mildred graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University with a BA in Education. She taught seventh and eighth grade English in the South Hackensack, NJ school system while continuing her education. She received a Masters degree in Education Administration from Montclair State University plus thirty credits towards her Doctorate.

Mildred and her husband Guy Ciccarelli also lived in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, Franklin Lakes, NJ, and retired to St. Petersburg, FL.  After spending many summers in Windsor, VT, they moved there permanently in 2013.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Gaynell Ciccarelli of Windsor, VT, her grandson Justin Ciccarelli of West Windsor, VT, her great grandchildren Guy and Isebella and their mother Jaime Ciccarelli and her granddaughter Alyssa Ciccarelli of Butler, NJ. She is also survived by her sister Grace Biegel, her sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Rudy Aldighieri, sisters-in-laws Caroleann Toronto and Rose Marie Buffalo. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who she loved dearly and asked about often.

Mildred was predeceased by her parents, her husband Guy in 2015, her brother Peter Toronto and sister Rose Ciccarelli, brothers-in-law Vince Ciccarelli, Victor Biegel, Raymond Ciccarelli and his wife Rosalie, Frank Ciccarelli and his wife Joan.

Mildred thought very highly of continuing education and its importance in everyone's lives. She instilled this love and appreciation in her students, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and any young life she touched.

Mildred's family would like to thank Mt. Ascutney hospice care unit, Dr. Barbara Lazar, Bayada Hospice of Norwich, VT;  in particular Betty Martin, Nancy Kennedy, Nancy Beaudoin. We would especially like to thank her primary care giver Georgeanne Turner for her love and compassion.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 19, from 3:30 to 6:30PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT.  Funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, November 20, at 10:00AM at the Knight Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery in Windsor, VT.
