IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael
Zack
February 17, 1955 – February 2, 2024
Michael Zack passed away peacefully at the Jack Byrne Hospice Center on February 2nd, 2024 after a short battle with GBM.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 17, 1955 to Ethel (Melvin) and Raymond Zack. He spent much of his childhood living in many states while developing a love for motorized vehicles with his brother, Jeffrey. The two would spend summers riding motorcycles and playing outdoors as often and as long as possible. This affinity for internal-combustion-powered vehicles remained a constant throughout his life. He studied first at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, before continuing at NHVTC in Nashua, New Hampshire.
He and his brother very successfully owned and operated Northern Motorsport Ltd. in Wilder, Vermont for 35 years where they shared their passion and knowledge for classic and exotic European cars. His collection of classic automobiles reflected this passion. Among his favorite activities were Sunday drives with friends and family, where he would sport his green 1965 MGB.
Other passions of Michael included fishing and food; both of which he enjoyed most when shared with family. Never one to shy away from new recipes, Michael loved using his family as guinea pigs for his food experiments. His love of his family transcended any of his material interests. He married Mary Beth (Ireland) in 1984 and together they had 3 children.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary Beth, daughters Sarah (Eric) Atherton, and Amy (Nick) Wadleigh. He also leaves his son, Mick and sister-in-law, Denise. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Ethel, his brother, Jeffrey, and his sister, Sue. He also leaves his 4 grandchildren, Zander, Ada, Quincy and Sully, whom he adored more than anything.
A celebration of life will be held at Northern Motorsport Ltd. on Saturday, February 24 at 1:00.
