Quechee, VT – Michael J. Sowa, 58, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH. Michael was born in Schenectady, NY on April 3, 1967, to parents Paul E. and Joan Sowa.

His love of skiing, fishing, and music were constant. But Michael's wide variety of interests led him to pursue many other hobbies throughout his lifetime. He would dive in to each hobby with passion, learning and working at them until he'd mastered them to his best ability and then move onto another interest. He taught each of his children the joy of skiing and how to carve the most detailed and intricate jack-o-lanterns. He was a wonderful cook and enjoyed using herbs from his garden in the dishes he created. He was an avid Patriots fan, and enjoyed white wine and scotch with friends.

He is survived by his three children Sabina Sowa of New York, NY, Alex Sowa of Boonton, NJ, and Ryan Sowa of Boonton, NJ; his mother Joan Sowa of Quechee; his brother Mark Sowa of NJ; his aunt Patricia O'Brien of Boston, MA; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and his beloved dog Holly.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT.
