Obituary

Michael H. Seaver, 75, of Norwich, VT died peacefully, surrounded by his animals and in the company of his loving wife at his home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.  Mike was born in Newport, NH on June 20, 1948, to Howard and Mary (Sanborn) Seaver.

Michael served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was a proud member of the Marine Corps League, "Devil Dogs".

He had a lifelong love for automobiles and NASCAR along with Dirt track Racing. His hobby and passion caught the eye of Vickie Ann Ladeau, of Norwich, VT.  Following a coffee date together, the two enjoyed fun times cruising in Michael's 1977 Corvette and spending time with family and friends.  The pair married on June 8, 1996, at their home, in Norwich, at a backyard cookout.

Michael was a very kind, generous man.  His devout love for animals was second to none.  He and Vickie rescued and cared for numerous dogs, during their years together, giving each and every one of them the 'Life of Riley'.  Mike and Vickie sat on the Board of Green Mountain Pug Rescue for many years and helped with the Pug Cafe at their annual Pug Social fundraiser.  He was the grill master for that event, and at the many home barbecues as well.  Mike was also involved with the Toys For Tots Foundation for many years. He was happy and honored to help provide a Merry Christmas for those children in need.

Throughout their twenty-eight years of marriage, the couple traveled extensively, often in the American West and to the coastal towns in Maine. They both especially loved the Flaming Gorge Recreation Area, on the border of Utah and Wyoming, calling it their "Home Away From Home".

Mike is survived by his wife Vickie Ann Ladeau Seaver of Norwich; one daughter Lisa Peterman Taylor of Iowa; two stepdaughters Heather Walz of Randolph, VT and Hillary Walz of Windsor, VT; two siblings Charlie Westover and wife Terry of Newport, NH and Penny and her husband Philip Belloir of North Carolina; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Michael Seaver, and two brothers Edward Westover and Donald (Peanut) Seaver.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this year in nice weather, at a cookout, which was Mike's favorite type of get together.
