Thetford, VT - Michael Charles Pomeroy, 52, passed unexpectedly on Monday, January 13, 2020 at his home in Thetford.  Mike had battled leukemia for about a decade and overcame fungal-caused pneumonia earlier this year but suffered a heart attack.

Mike was born February 6, 1967 in Montgomery Alabama to the late Gary and Elaine (Bryant) Pomeroy. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1985 and the University of Vermont in 1989.

Mike was very active in the community and dedicated himself to the town of Thetford.  He served as town selectman, as well as on several committees, including the Thetford Hill Village Improvement Society.  Mike was a justice of the peace and coached his daughter's softball team at Thetford Academy.

Mike and his wife, Mary Dan, owned and operated three stores along Route 113 - the Village Store in Thetford Center, Baker's General Store in Post Mills and B&B Cash Market in West Fairlee; which have become essential "gathering places" for the community.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed maple sugaring, "Garbage Talk" on Saturdays at Thetford Recycling, cooking for family and friends especially barbeques and pizzas and giving advice to his children, particularly on being fiscal minded.  He also took great joy restoring and renovating his daughter Maggie and Tyler's home.

He leaves his beloved wife of 28 years, Mary Dan (Clouser) Pomeroy, two daughters, Maggie Pomeroy and her fiancé Tyler Cotnoir and Michaela Pomeroy, a brother Mark Pomeroy, several nieces and nephews and cherished friends.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held Saturday January 18th from 1-4PM at the Hulbert Outdoor Center, 2899 Lake Morey Rd, Fairlee, VT 05045
