Michael Alan Moye
Enfield, NH – Michael Alan Moye, 54, died following a long illness on Monday January 29th at home in Enfield, NH surrounded by family.
He was born January 4, 1964 in Lebanon, NH a son of Shyrl (Boyce) Moye and Robert Moye. Mike grew up in White River Jct. and graduated from Hartford High School before attending Johnson and Wales College in Providence, RI. Mike started his career as a chef at an early age working for his aunt at Lena's Lunch and spent a summer working for free at Café Northern Lights in White River Jct. Mike worked as a chef at several places throughout the Upper Valley including the Hanover Inn, Lou's, Dartmouth Dining Services, the Co-Op Commissary, Timken, the Hotel Coolidge and most recently at Kimball Union Academy.
After college he returned to the Upper Valley and was married to Nancy Blanchard in 1987. They lived in the Canaan for many years where they raised their two sons, Dylan and Charlie. Mike and Nancy were divorced in 2009. Mike's greatest joy came from coaching and watching his sons play sports. He particularly enjoyed watching his son Dylan play in the NH/VT Shrine game. He continued to enjoy coaching Mascoma youth basketball and baseball until he was too sick to participate.
Mike also enjoyed watching all of the New England professional sports teams as well as watching Notre Dame Football.
Mike was predeceased by his father in 2003 and leaves his mother, Shyrl Rafus and step father David Rafus of White River Jct., two sons Dylan and Charlie Moye both of Canaan, NH; sister Debra Wagar of White River Jct.; brothers Christopher and Brian Moye both of Wilder, VT; his girlfriend Helen Spaulding of Enfield, NH; several nieces and nephews and two great nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., Thursday February 1, 2018 from 6-8PM. A graveside memorial service will be held in the Branchview Cemetery in South Royalaton in the spring.
