West Windsor, VT – Michael O. "Chappy" Harrington, 76, died Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, following a brief illness.
Chappy was born March 19, 1950, in Windsor, VT, a son of Philip and Marjorie (Jackson) Harrington. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1968 and attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Following his studies, he returned to Windsor and began working at Cone Blanchard, where he served as an officer with the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE) Local 258.
After the plant closed, Chappy worked throughout the Upper Valley as an electrician, builder, and painter. He later moved to Florida and accepted a management position with JELD-WEN. He subsequently transferred to the company's Claremont, NH facility, returning to the Upper Valley until that location closed. He then returned to Florida, where he remained until his retirement. Following retirement, Chappy moved back to West Windsor. Never one to sit idle, he took a position with the Southeast Supervisory Union, working as a custodian at Brownsville Elementary School, where he enjoyed interacting with students and staff.
An avid golfer, Chappy dedicated much of his life to the John P. Larkin Country Club, serving the club and community in many capacities over the years. Most recently, he was an active participant in the Wednesday Morning Seniors League. He also enjoyed building model cars, and watching the Red Sox, Dallas Cowboys, Boston Celtics, and sport talk shows.
Chappy is preceded in death by two brothers, James Harrington and Philip "Skip" Harrington, Jr., and a sister, Beth Harrington.
He is survived by his daughter, Mariamne Harrington of Orlando, FL,; two sisters, Suzanne Harrington of Tucson, AZ, and Barbara Arenella of Malden, MA; two brothers, Patrick M. Harrington of Ascutney, VT, and Mark Harrington of West Roxbury, MA; sisters in law, Caroline Harrington of West Fairlee, VT and Brenda Hull of Ascutney, VT, former wife, Ann Harrington of Orlando, FL, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
