White River Jct., VT – Michael Gayland Carr, 72, died Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH following a short illness.

Michael was born July 25, 1953, in Hanover, NH, a son of Gayland and Christine (Regione) Carr. Michael grew up in White River Junction and graduated from Hartford High School in 1971.

After graduation he began work as a bartender at Eleazar's in White River Jct., one of the hottest places in the Upper Valley. He enjoyed his time at the club where he met many of his lifelong friends and got to listen to live music- all while getting paid. He later settled into his lifelong career at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, where he worked for nearly 40 years before retiring.

Michael was an avid sports fan all his life, and rarely missed a Red Sox, Celtics, or Patriots game. He also enjoyed playing golf, listening to music and travelling with friends, including trips to Hawaii and California.

He was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his brother, Stephen Mead and sister in-law Dawn of White River Jct. and his niece, Molly Mead of Austin, TX as well as several cousins.

Calling hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction from 11am-1pm on Saturday, February 14, 2026, with a committal service taking place at 1pm in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
