Windsor, VT- Michael B. "Mike" Allen, 74, a lifelong resident of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17th at the Sullivan County Home in Unity, NH. He was born in Windsor on June 18, 1951 the son of William and Kathleen (Prevo) "Kitty" Allen. He received his schooling in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1969. He then attended and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1973 earning his Bachelor's Degree in Education. While at UVM, Mike met Bill Moore, which became a lifelong friendship of over fifty years. Following his graduation, Mike returned to Windsor and became a dedicated and respected member of the faculty at Windsor High School in 1973, as an advanced math educator. He retired in 2005. Because of his love of the teaching profession and concern for his hundreds of students, he continued to tutor until 2020. Mike was a longtime very active member of the Windsor High School Alumni Association, and willingly served on several different committees including the Scholarship Fund during the many years of his volunteer service. He will also be remembered for his time and dedication in videotaping Windsor High School athletic events. Mike and his friend, Bill traveled extensively throughout the United States. Mike enjoyed reading science fiction and spending time with his family and many friends. He was a member of the Windsor Elks Lodge and the Sons of the American Legion Post #25. He was predeceased by his parents, his aunt and uncle, Eleanor and Clarence Prevo, and their son, David Prevo. Survivors include, his brother, Terry Allen of Windsor, several cousins, including Kathy Prevo, also of Windsor and his longtime friend, Bill Moore of Laconia, NH. A graveside service will be held, Saturday, November 8th, at 10:00 AM at the family lot on the first level in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor. A reception for family and friends will follow at Kathy Prevo's home on Route 44 in Windsor. Condolences may be expressed to his family in an online guestbook at knightfuneralhomes.com.
