IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Merrilyn
Boyens
June 22, 1942 – August 6, 2023
Windsor, VT- Merrilyn "Merry" Boyens, 81, died Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Mt. Ascutney Healthcare in Windsor, following a brief illness.
Merry was born June 22, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of Francis and Jean (Underwood) Burger. She grew up on Long Island and graduated in 1960 from Half Hollow Hills High School, Deer Park, Long Island, NY. Following high school, she pursued an associate degree at the State University of Agriculture and Technology in Farmingdale, NY. Where she met and developed a love for her future husband Ralph Boyens. Merry and Ralph were united in marriage June 27, 1964, in Stoney Brook, NY. They made their home in Huntington, NY and started a family. In 1972 the family moved to Windsor, where they opened Sugar Bush Florist in 1973. Which they operated together until selling the business in 1989. Merry continued to work at Steve's Pet Shop in Lebanon where she developed her skills in raising birds and tropical fish. This is where she stayed until the pandemic in 2020 and was forced to retire.
Over the years Merry enjoyed raising young tropical birds and fish and collected art glass. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her husband and family.
Merry is preceded in death by her parents; a brother Kenneth; and a sister Robin.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Boyens of Windsor, two sons Andrew Boyens of Springfield, VT, and John Boyens of Florida; two grandchildren, Anthony and Kiko; and a sister Wendy.
There will be no services at Merry's request. Knight Funeral Home in Windsor has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhhomes.com.
