WINDSOR, VT
Merilyn G. Wood, 76, a resident of Windsor passed away Saturday evening, February 13, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
She was born March 18, 1933 in the family home in Bridgewater, VT the daughter of Ralph and Hazel (Sloan) Hoisington. She received her schooling in Woodstock and attended Woodstock High School. She married Kenneth S. Wood in Rutland, VT on January 21, 1951. They moved to Windsor from Ascutney in 1981. Mrs. Wood was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon for several years and most recently at the Stoughton House in Windsor, until her retirement in 1993.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing poker. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mr. Wood passed away on June 20, 1999.
She was also predeceased by one sister, Verna Gay.
Survivors include three sons, Larry E. Wood, currently residing in the Philippines, Stanley K. Wood of Florence. MA, and Thomas L. Wood of North Berwick, ME, three daughters, Brenda Paradis of Walterboro, SC, Gail Palmer of Webster, NH and Trudy Dudley of Windsor, VT, two brothers, Edwin Hoisington of Fairfax, VA and Reginald Hoisington of Bridgewater, VT, one sister, Norma Plummer of Bradford, VT, fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Saturday morning, February 20, from 10:00 to 12:00. Committal services will be held at a later date in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
