White River Jct., VT - Maxine E. (Boyce) Mason, 72, died Friday October 1, 2010 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH with her family surrounding her.

She was born January 21, 1938 in Tunbridge, VT a daughter of Wendall and Florence (Howe) Boyce and attended schools in Tunbridge and Royalton. She married Harry H. Mason July 7, 1956 in South Royalton. They moved to the Hartford, VT area shortly after where they have spent the past fifty years. Mrs. Mason worked for a time in local woolen mills but mostly worked in her family's restaurants including Lena's Lunch, Julie's Now & Then, and Crossroad's Café, as well as at the Polka Dot, until retiring in 2002.

Maxine loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren as well as her dog, Toto.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Lena Butterfield, Annabelle Perkins, & Barbara Mann; a brother Fred Howe and two infant brothers David and Wendall Boyce Jr.

She is survived by her Husband two daughters Sherrie Mason Peabody and Carrie Holroyd and husband Fred; a son Marc Mason and wife Kathy, six grandchildren Kolie, Kelsey, Kyle, Keri, Mason & Mariah; a brother Stanley Boyce and wife Grace; three sisters Jennie Blow, Shryl Rafus, and Mary Mann and husband Butch all of White River Jct., VT as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Sunday from 10 AM until Noon. A graveside service will be held Monday at 1PM in the Branchview Cemetery in Tunbridge, VT.
