Quechee, VT – Maurice P. Vanderpot, 85, died Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
He was born September 17, 1937, in Charlestown, MA a son of William P. and Margaret (Whelton) Vanderpot. Maurice graduated from Boston College High School class of 1955 before entering the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits, serving the Society for ten years. While serving with the Jesuits, he attended Boston College, graduating in 1959. After leaving the Society, he began his career in Human Resources, starting at Raytheon and later working with Garrett Air Research, Digital Equipment Corporation for many years and then Liberty Mutual Insurance before retiring in 2009. Maurice was married to Patricia Jo Sheehan June 22, 1969, and they lived, raising their family, in several places around the country as Maurice's career took them to Tom's River, NJ, San Pedro, CA, Andover and Lowell, MA and finally Keene and Enfield, NH. For the past several years the couple has lived in Quechee, VT.
Maurice was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time coaching and playing sports with his sons. He also enjoyed summers working on his flower gardens. Since retiring, Maurice has enjoyed working with his son building homes, well into his eighties.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Patricia, of Quechee; sons, Justin Michael (Luann) of San Antonio, TX and Peter Andrew (Jill) of White River Jct., VT; grandchildren, Alex Justin of Seattle, WA, Kaitlin Nicole of San Antonio, TX, Jared Patrick and Abigail Bryn both of White River Jct.; sisters Joann Kirk (William) of Winchester, MA; Margaret Donovan of Stoneham, MA and Mary Jeanne Gonski (Robert) of Plymouth, MA; a brother, Jack Vanderpot of Salisbury, MA as well as twenty nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by a nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 8 th at 11AM at LaSalette Shrine in Enfield, NH.
