BROWNSVILLE, VT
Maurice L. Hull, 82, a longtime resident of Brownsville, passed away Thursday evening, April 15 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Windsor.
He was born February 23, 1928 in Brownsville the son of Leland and Maude (Norton) Hull. He received his schooling in Brownsville and South Royalton, where he graduated from South Royalton High School in 1947. He married Lorraine Greene in Vergennes, Vermont on November 11, 1948. He was a veteran of the US Navy, stationed in China during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he attended the General Electric School in Boston. He was employed as a licensed electrician for Greaves Electric in Montpelier for five years and for Central Vermont Public Service for nine years. He was later employed at the former Cone Blanchard Machine Tool Company in Windsor for twenty one years, until starting his own business Hull's Electric, with his son Kerry, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1989.
Maurice was a member of the Windsor Legion Post #25, the Windsor Elks Lodge #1665, and a member and past president of the Windsor Lions Club. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed baseball and was a coach and umpire for the Windsor Little League, Windsor Legion Baseball and Windsor High School Baseball. He also umpired college baseball in Vermont and New Hampshire. He proudly sponsored Hull's Electric Softball Team for several years.
He enjoyed skiing and worked on ski patrol at the Mt. Ascutney Ski Area in Brownsville for many years, where he and his wife also managed night skiing.
He was predeceased by one sister, Christina Clay and two brothers, Wilfred Hull and Raymond Hull.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Brownsville, three daughters, Brenda Hull of Quechee, VT, Shannon Harrington and her husband Matthew of Brownsville and Shelley Seward and her husband, Glenn of Brownsville, three sons, Kerry Hull of Keene, NH, Scott Hull and his wife, Karen of Weathersfield, VT and Kelly Hull and his wife, Sally of Strafford, VT, one sister, Verna English of Royalton, VT, one brother, Reginald Hull of Royalton, VT, eight grandchildren, Michelle Distefano, Darby Boudro, Brendan Harrington, Daniel Harrington, Colton Hull, Ben Bauer, Jeremy Bauer and Emma Bauer, four great grandchildren, Logan Boudro, Jonathan Davie, Olivia Distefano and Kylie Hull, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Monday evening, April 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Graveside committal services will be held Tuesday morning, April 20 at 11:00 AM in the Brownsville Cemetery in Brownsville with the Rev. Paul Belhumeur, M.S., Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, officiating, beginning with a service by Windsor Elks Lodge. A reception for family and friends will follow at his daughter Shelley's home, on Mountainside Drive in Brownsville.
