Windsor, VT – Maura F. Baccei, 80, our jocular, intelligent, strong-willed, environmentally conscious, and kind wife, mother, and grandmother died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Bronxville, NY on August 27, 1943, to Thomas and Audrey (Keener) Fleming. Throughout her life, she was aware of the power of language and behavior. Her joy and enthusiasm were infectious, and she put light and love into every possible interaction and undertaking. She was fond of saying, "Let your light shine" and she led this by example every day of her life.

Early on Maura discovered her love of language and she pursued a master's degree in English. She taught for several years in Norfolk, VA, where her then husband, Storm Jorgensen, Jr., was stationed. Even after transitioning to public relations writing, she continued to tutor students in writing and English until retirement. She was an insightful and talented poet, journaled extensively, and also communicated through the art of photography, capturing poetry through her camera lens.

While living in Florida in 2005, she met Greg Baccei at Church; his serious expression prompted her to encourage him to smile and enjoy the moment. Next came coffee, then on March 10, 2007, they married, and later retired to Windsor, Vermont in 2018. She enjoyed daily walks around town with Greg, being close to her son, improvising amazing dinners with whatever ingredients happened to be on hand, and writing with her beloved cats as company.

She is survived by her husband Greg Baccei of Windsor; two children Raandi Mackor of Florida and Rolf Jorgensen and wife Nicole of Brownsville, VT; stepson Jonathan Baccei of Florida; grandson Tyler Mackor of Florida; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Storm Jorgensen, III, and two sisters Jane and Shauna Fleming.

A celebration of Maura's life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 2 pm and concluding with a service at 4pm at Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT.
