BROWNSVILLE, VT

Mary Campbell Whiting, 75, a resident of Brownsville, passed away Wednesday, June 12th at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH.  She was the daughter of the late Walter and Jean Stearns of Springfield, VT.  Mary was born June 26th, 1943.  She grew up in Springfield, and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1965.  Mary married Arthur (Joe) Whiting June 15th, 1966.  She was an avid skier until her early 30's, when she was diagnosed with MS.  For many years Mary was the school librarian in Windsor and was also a realtor. She and her husband enjoyed buying, remodeling, and selling homes.  She was an incredible wood carver of birds and animals, a gardener, and a savvy business woman.

She is survived by her husband Arthur (Joe) Whiting of Brownsville, VT and her son Oliver Whiting, and his wife Michelle, of Durango, CO.  Also her sister in-law, Susan Pelton of Hartland, VT and her nephew, Nathan Stearns and his family of Norwich, VT.

Mary's family would like to thank the staff at the Jack Byrne Center for the amazing care she received and the support they provided.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, July 14th, 4 PM, at Ascutney Outdoors Center in Brownsville, VT.  Mary's wood carvings will be available for sale and all proceeds will be donated to the National MS Society.
