PLAINFIELD, NH - Mary Sweet passed away on April 21 ^st , 2023 with her famous daffodil field in full bloom. Born Esther Mary Dickerson on January 4, 1933 in Norwich, England, she was the youngest child of Rev. Herbert and Frances (Bacon) Dickerson. During Christmas 1948, Mary moved to Plainfield where her father was the minister of the Plainfield Baptist Church, and with the exception of one year in Nebraska, where she lived the rest of her life.

Mary's first marriage to David Stone ended in divorce. Her second marriage of 36 years was with Fred Sweet. Mary is survived by her children Shirley (Bill), Jennifer, Adrienne (Jim), Matt, Jeff (Lori) and Meredith (Doug); step-daughter, Judy Sweet Schneider; sister, Miss Ethel Dickerson of British Columbia, Canada; 13 grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews in the United States and England; dear friends, Susie, Lee and Jay, Barbara Hentzel and many others throughout the Upper Valley; and her faithful fur baby, Remi. Mary was predeceased by her husband Fred, ex-husband David, son Christopher, four siblings, and her first rescue fur baby, Kiki.

Mary was a member of the Mothers & Daughters Club; Plainfield Community Babtist Church, where she was secretary for several years; the committee to establish the first school library; and Friends of the Philip Read Memorial Library. Mary also was a past trustee of the Philip Read Memorial Library.

Mary's family is extremely grateful to Bayada Hospice, Dr. Bachelder and Knight Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mary's memory to the Friends of the PRML Scholarship Fund (PO Box 163, Plainfield, NH 03781) or an animal rescue organization of your choice. Per her wishes, a party for Mary will be held on June 17 at her long-time Plainfield home.
