Mary Lea (Dupont) Jenks, went on to be with her husband, Leslie Jenks, at 96 years old on April 4th 2019. She leaves her family of Nancy Brown, of Naples, FL; Realtor & Donna Wright, of Cross Creek, FL; historical guide, & (Leslie) 'Skip' Jenks Jr., deceased, formerly of West Palm Beach, FL. She also leaves 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, & 9 great-great- grandchildren.
Mary grew up in White River Jct, VT, the daughter of Eva & Joseph Dupont, of French Canadian heritage. Mary married Leslie Jenks at 16 years old, the love of her life for 76+ years. They made their home at first in Meredith, NH. Upon Leslie's return from serving in the Navy in the Pacific in WWII, Mary and Leslie opened their own precision machine shop, Jenks Tool Company in North Hartland, VT. Eventually they moved their home and business to Lebanon, NH, where they employed over 25 local men & women, who became like extended family for them. Mary worked as the office manager, right along side Leslie for over 35 years. After their family was grown they built their dream home on the Connecticut River in Lyme, NH, where they held many family gatherings, large and small. Their retirement years were spent in Florida golfing and enjoying their friends and family around the state. Their last home was in Naples with their daughter Nancy.
Mary was very active in local and state politics, working on several campaigns. She was an incredibly talented artisan; she created artwork in many different mediums such as: crewel, silver jewelry & rug making, ceramics, painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, not to mention that she was an incredible cook! Mary helped throw many dinner parties and gatherings with Leslie. All the family has some treasured item that Mary made for them. She and Leslie attended many dances on Saturday nights and liked to plan little weekend get-a-ways, also they loved to go cruising with family and friends. She and Leslie enjoyed 76+ wonderful years together and a retirement for over 35+ years!
Mary always had a good story to tell and was so witty. She also never passed up an opportunity to watch a good movie or play a game. At one time she was an avid fisher 'woman', and had crafted her own special bait and lures to catch the 'big one'. Her infectious laugh, smiling face and twinkle in her mischievous eyes will be greatly missed by all of us. We love you Mom/Grammy/Aunt and friend.
An internment service will be held on May 16th, at West Lebanon Cemetery at 2pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to Wounded Warriors Project. Donate online: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org
