Windsor, VT- Mary Y. Husband, 82, died Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Mt Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT unexpectedly.
Mary was born December 6, 1937 in Norwich, CT, a daughter of Charles and Yolande (St. Pierre) Kusian. She graduated from the Norwich Free Academy Class of 1955. She was married to William Husband on August 27, 1960 in Hanover, CT. They made their home in Hartford, CT and later West Hartford. Bill's family was from Vermont so they made their way here in 1973. Mary worked as a clerk in the Canteen in the Veterans affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, until she retired in 1995.
Mary was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an active member in the Ascutney Ward, she was a member of the American Legion Post 25 Auxiliary. Mary loved to do crafts, knitting, crocheting and was a dog lover, always found with her canine companion Winnie by her side. Those who knew Mary would describe her as the most giving and selfless person always willing to lend a helping hand. She always smiled and tried her best to make others smile. She also enjoyed her daily phone calls and many adventures with her best friend Shirley Husband.
She is predeceased by her husband William Husband.
She is survived by two sons Bryan Husband of Windsor and Mark Husband of Woonsocket, RI; a daughter Karen Hamblin and her husband Mike of Hartland, VT; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister Joan Lamb of Baltic, CT with whom she enjoyed frequent visits.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at a later date. Knight Funeral Home in Windsor has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to Mary's family in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com .
