Fairlee, VT – Mary Alice (Fontaine) Clark, died on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at home with her daughter by her side.  She was born on September 24, 1946, in Barre City Hospital to Maurice A. and Phyllis (Russell) Fontaine. Spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, brought so much joy and light into her world; she cherished the quiet time at home, traveling, or spending time on the water with family and friends. Her working career began at First National Bank in White River Junction, continued in the lunchroom at Hartford High School, and retired from the North Thetford Post Office.

She is survived by her daughter Denise Phelps and husband Dennis of Fairlee; three grandchildren Adam O'Donnell, Nicholas "Nick" Phelps, and Olivia Phelps; great granddaughter Kennedi Amanatidus; her beloved dog Ollie; several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Joan (Fontaine) Marcotte, Arthur Fontaine, and Maurice Fontaine.

A small private gathering will be held, in memory of Mary, please make a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or your favorite animal charity.  Her family would like to extend gratitude to her team at Dartmouth and Bayada and a special thankyou to Dr. Cheri Mather who was always kind and compassionate throughout Mary's illness.
