Martha was born May 31 ^st , 1961 in Hartford, Connecticut to Robert Smith and Shirley Poley. She grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Tolland High School with the class of 1979. She married Keith Nichols, and together they had two sons, Jason and Jeffrey.

Martha was predeceased by her father, Robert Smith, and her mother and stepfather, Shirley and John Cerrigione. She leaves behind her sister, Shirley Gerich of Tolland, CT.
