Martha S. Consentino, 82, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, NH.
She was born February 14, 1933 in East Berlin, CT a daughter of Herman E. and Ruth (Webster) Splettstoeszer. She attended school in Berlin, CT. She went to work at Pratt & Whitney in the Plating Department where she met her future husband Robert J. Consentino, they were married October 14, 1954 in East Berlin. In 1969 they moved to Essex Junction, VT where they opened and operated The Grinder Mill Restaurant until 1979 when they moved to Silver City, NM where they opened The Grinder Mill there. They returned to Vermont in 1982 and opened Potlach Tavern in Fairlee until they sold it in 1988. She then went to work for Split Ball Bearing in Lebanon where she worked until 1993, they then reopened the Potlach Tavern across the street from its original location until their retirement in 1995 when they moved to Florida for a time. They returned to Tall Timbers in 1998. She worked at Timkin Aerospace in Lebanon, Beans Art Shop in Hanover, Subway in West Lebanon, and was a bartender at the Elks Club in Hartford.
She is a member of the Hartford Elks BOPE #1541. She loved to travel and always had a good book.
She is predeceased by Siblings Margaret, Herbert, Gertrude Alice, Frederick and Roberta.
Martha is survived by her husband of sixty five years Robert; daughter Linda Tessier Both of White River Junction, two sons, Brian of Richmond, VT and Kent of Essex Junction; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister Lucille Ventres of Lyndonville, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 1, 2016 at 10:00AM at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon, NH. Burial will be held at a later date in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT.
