Obituary

Mark Andrew Tuthill

Born May 9 th , 1970, In Randolph, Vermont to Andrew and Marsha (Farmer) Tuthill. He passed away January 27, 2022 from cancer while at home surrounded by family and friends.

Mark was married to Jamie Maniery at a farm on the top of the hills of Pomfret on May 26 th , 2017. A perfect wedding for a perfect couple with hopes and dreams.

While most guys in high school played sports, Mark took track but was also on the cheerleading squad. Mark had read the Gutenberg bible front to back, the Christian bible as well as the Mormon Bible, he went to heaven prepared to debate.

When he was young, he traveled to Germany with his parents while his father was in the military. He had an extremely high IQ and was awarded a full scholarship to Norwich University, which at the last minute he decided not to go.

He spent his life working in the food industry in some form or another with the majority at EBA's in Hanover where he made plenty of friends, especially with the caterings he performed.

He served six years in the National Guard in the Mountain Infantry unit; he was an excellent marksman's as well as a rifle man. He forgot more than most would know about rifles.

Mark was also a cowboy bull rider who knew and rode with the best in the PBR, he mentored a lot of young men who thought they would like to try that out. When he set out to do anything in life, he worked hard and studied it so he knew it well, he also had a photo graphic memory on anything he had ever endured.

He developed cancer two years ago and fought it like a true soldier. He never gave up and was always open to new treatments and experiments that may cure him. The day prior to his passing his comments were, "I am not afraid of dying, it is just the wrong time of year." Mark passed away surrounded by friends and family at home in Pomfret.

He is survived by his wife Jamie, his parents, as well as two sisters, Amanda Bechtel her husband, Ben, and their daughter, Sophia, as well as sister, Crystal and her three children, Eian, Emma and Jordan, his grandmother, Ruth Tuthill of Pomfret, VT, his grandfather, Gordon Tuthill of Woodstock, VT,  as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank Jenn Hewitt, her husband, Mike Bartlett, his uncle Greg, aunt Sandy, the doctors and nurses at DHMC who stayed with Mark throughout this illness, as well as Joe Dombrowski who ran Marks route business for him when he became unable to do so. As well as all others who comforted Mark and Jamie throughout this, Thank you all.

Memorial contributions may be made to a cancer charity of one's choice.

As per Marks wishes, there will be no formal funeral service, but rather a celebration of his life at Jenn's farm at the intersection of Allan Hill road and Skyline drive on May 7th at 12PM. Bring a dish for a pot luck, BYOB, and bring all the stories.
