Obituary

Hartland, VT – Mark Walker Prunk, 63, died on Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was born on May 22, 1961, in Washington, DC. Mark traveled and lived abroad for much of his childhood. Time spent in South Africa, Malaysia, and Singapore made a tremendous impact on him as he developed a love of food and art. His mother was a great cook and under her guidance he learned the basics of his future culinary career. As a teenager, the family moved to Rhode Island, where he graduated from the Moses Brown School. After moving to the Upper Valley to raise three wonderful children Mark became an amazing chef, creating culinary masterpieces from the kitchens of La Poule a Dents, Simon Pierce, and the Canoe Club. He also loved to cook from home, treating his family and friends to eggs benedict on Sundays and his impressive signature dish, Cantonese exploding lobster on special occasions.

Mark is survived by three children Kyle Prunk of Woonsocket, RI, Ashley Prunk of Hartford, VT, and Stephen Prunk of Hartland VT; brother Christopher Prunk of Bonita, CA; former wife Sarah (Puleston) Prunk of Hartford VT; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Prunk and Gail Walker.
