Hartland, VT - Marjorie Ruth Royce, 93, of Hartland, VT, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023, surrounded by her beloved family in Windsor, VT.

Born on December 8, 1929, to Walter and Mary Hatch, Marjorie graduated near the top of her class from Windsor High School in 1947 and went on to pursue her studies at the University of Vermont. In 1948, she married her beloved Leon Royce and together they spent sixty-eight precious years together, raising three children: Bob (wife Linda and son Todd), Tom (companion Sherryl Warren and daughters Bethany and Krissy), and Judy (husband Alexander Kobe and their two children Katie and Joshua). Her five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren were her greatest joy. Marjorie was predeceased by her older brother, Richard Hatch.

In her younger years, Marjorie was an exemplary mother and homemaker, and she made the holidays extra special for her family. She participated in the local PTA, the Cub Scout organization, the Hartland Congregational Church, and served as a volunteer town librarian. After her children finished school, Marjorie became Head Librarian at the Hartland Elementary School, a job she enjoyed for two decades prior to her retirement in the late 1980's. In their retirement years, Marjorie and Leon made the most of their time together, taking trips around the US and Europe and spending their winters in Florida, cheering on the Boston Red Sox for thirty years.

To commemorate Marjorie's life, visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 4-6pm at Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hartland Congregational Church.
