Obituary

Wilder, VT- Marjorie "Margie" Parmenter, 73, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Margie was born November 5, 1944 in Burlington, VT a daughter of Louis and Geraldine (Gordon) Mossey. She grew up in Fletcher, VT and attended Fairfax High School. Margie worked for a time at Tree Nurse and got her start in food service in a restaurant in Burlington. At the age of seventeen she moved to White River Junction, VT where she went to work at the Polk-A-Dot Diner and The Vermont Heel Company in Wilder sanding heels. Margie later worked as a bartender at Red Shutters Restaurant while still at the Polka-A-Dot She went to work at Mary Hitchcock in medical records then went to work for Dartmouth College where she worked for 18 years until retiring in August of 2010. Margie kept busy volunteering thousands of hours over an eleven year period at the Haven. All throughout her working career she would moonlight house cleaning for clients throughout the Upper Valley. She was married to Terry Maskell and later to Walter Parmenter.

Margie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary both in White River Junction where she would also volunteer as a server and bartender. She was well known and loved at the college and known as the Omelet Lady. Margie loved animals and would take in stray cats, she always had at least one Cockatiel or other bird as a pet. Margie was a true fan of Country music and loved to be surrounded by it.

She is predeceased by Terry Maskell and Walter Parmenter, an infant daughter Dawn, seven brothers, Louis Jr, Jack, Kenneth, Dale, Wayne, Gerald, Eric, and Gordon; a sister Anita Chaplin and a step son Walter Parmenter, Jr.

Margie is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Maskell Loya and husband James of Wilder, VT and Tara Maskell and husband Scott Senna of Colchester,  VT; four grandchildren Dustin, Nicholas, Riley and Hailey; two step-children, Laura Parmenter, of Enfield, Fred Kuch of Shelburne, VT; ten step-grandchildren; two brothers James Mossey of Georgia, VT and Richard Mossey of Burlington; and a sister Linda Borthwick of Winooski, VT.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, October 19 1-3pm at the Lebanon American Legion, with the Rev. Amanda Swoyer officiating. A private graveside service will be held in Mt Olivet Cemetery in White River Junction at the convienice of the family. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction assisted with arrangements.
