CORNISH, NH
Marjorie C. Overman, 98, a longtime resident of Cornish, passed away Tuesday evening, June 16 at the Elm Wood Center in Claremont, NH.
She was born September 15, 1916 in Worcester, MA the daughter of William and Luella (Cherrier) Clark. She was raised in St. Albans, VT on her grandparent's farm. She received her schooling in St. Albans and Windsor, and graduated from Windsor High School in 1934. Marjorie was employed at the former J.J. Newberry Store in Windsor for several years where she met Wilbur G. Overman. They were married in Windsor on February 6, 1941. While Mr. Overman served in the US Army during World War II, Marjorie briefly resided in Indiana. She and her husband moved to Cornish in 1954, where they owned and operated a small farm for many years.
She was a longtime active member of the Plainfield Community Baptist Church in Plainfield, NH. She was fond of gardening, fishing, crocheting, playing cribbage and doing crossword puzzles. Mrs. Overman took great pleasure in raising her family as well as helping to raise many area children. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mr. Overman passed away on January 12, 2000. She was also predeceased by her parents, three brothers, William Clark, Rupert Clark and Maurice Clark and by two sisters, Shirley Vivian and Eunice Overman.
Survivors include one son, Mark Overman and his wife, Tina of Plainfield, one daughter, Jane DeLue of White River Jct., VT, three grandchildren, Stephen Overman of Cornish, Kristen Bryant of Manchester, NH and Robert Peterson of White River Jct., two great grandchildren, Justin Peterson and Nilo Overman, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 1 at 2:00 PM at the Plainfield Community Baptist Church in Plainfield. The Rev. Suellen Leugers, Former Pastor will officiate. Committal services will follow in the Chase Cemetery in Cornish. A reception for family and friends will follow in the church hall.

The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is entrusted with the arrangements.
