IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie A.
"Marge" Kolenberg
July 15, 1950 – December 6, 2018
West Windsor – Marjorie (Marge) Anne (Morris) Kolenberg, age 68, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at her home in West Windsor, with her husband, Al Franklin by her side. Marge had struggled with COPD for many years. She was born in Keene, New Hampshire to Nicholas J. and Marjorie E. Morris. She grew up in various towns across New England with her parents and four siblings with whom she remained close her entire life. Marge graduated from Burlington High School in 1968. She married Kyran Kolenberg of Watervliet, New York in March of 1971. Kyran and Marge moved to Windsor, VT and had two daughters, Amy and Becki. Marge spent the remainder of her life in Windsor, VT area.
Marge worked as a dental assistant for several years before entering her most fulfilling professional role at Windsor High School in 1985. Marge loved working with the kids and faculty at WHS over the years and she ruled the office with both a huge heart and an iron fist. Marge was quick to laugh and her jovial laughter could often be heard throughout the halls of Windsor High School. At the time of her passing, Marge was working in data entry for Aris Solutions in White River Junction, VT.
Marge met the love of her life, Allen Franklin, in 2000 and they were married in 2012. She and Al loved spending time together and traveling. Some of their favorite destinations include Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, the Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Washington, DC, Massachusetts, Montana, and Florida.
One of Marge's favorite and most frequent destinations was Cape Cod where, known as "the Masher" around the pool table, she would spend time with family and visit one of her favorite spots, Dowse's Beach.
To the grandkids, Marge and Al were known as "Grammy and Grandpa Owl", a term affectionately coined by Ella, Marge's first granddaughter and carried on by grandson, Zachary. Marge and Al traveled to Orlando frequently to spend time with their grandchildren. A special memory for Marge from many years ago involved a visit to Vermont by granddaughter Ella, a lifelong Floridian, who at the age of three, experienced snow for the first, and only, time.
Marge loved animals and had many beloved pets over the years. She also took pleasure in watching the abundant wildlife including birds, deer, and most recently, bears that would visit her and Al at their home in W. Windsor. Marge was an avid reader and spent part of almost every day reading. She also had a remarkable green thumb and took great pride in her plants and flowers, both inside and out. Marge enjoyed all kinds of puzzles and was known to be quite the seamstress in her earlier years. She was also a lifelong New England sports fan and could be heard cheering loudly for the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox.
Marge is survived by her husband Allen Franklin of W. Windsor, VT, daughter Amy Robertson and her husband Dale of Orlando, FL, daughter Becki Kolenberg of Helena, MT, grandchildren Ella Riviezzo and Zachary Robertson of Orlando FL, sister Jane Stott and her partner Tom Walsh of New Bedford, MA, brother Bob Morris and his wife Dorothy of Williston, VT, sister-in-law, Sue Morris of St. Augustine's, FL, brother-in-law Kenneth Leonard of Marston Mills, MA and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
