IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie P.
Locke
May 2, 1927 – July 5, 2024
Tucson, AZ - Marjorie P. (Dudley) Jones Locke peacefully passed away on July 5, 2024, at the age of 97. She was born on May 2, 1927, in Lebanon, NH - the eldest of seven children born to Harley and Velma (Sanborn) Dudley.
Marge loved to travel and meet people. She was recognized by the Air Force for her years of volunteer service helping military families in need. Upon returning to WRJ, she worked at the VA Hospital where she met the love of her life, Reginald S Locke. They were married on Sept 11,1970. After their retirements – and an especially cold winter – they moved to Tucson, AZ where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Never one to sit idly, Marge kept busy with hobbies – crossword puzzles, reading, knitting, cardmaking, and crocheting – but her passion was genealogy. She devoted decades to extensive research into her family lineage and published two books on the subject. Always eager to help others, she also volunteered her talents at a local Family History Center guiding others pursuing their family trees.
Being the eldest of seven, her siblings affectionately nicknamed her "the boss" – a title she proudly embraced. There's no doubt she has resumed the helm once again – with all of them sitting around a kitchen or picnic table having seven different conversations, simultaneously. The Magnificent 7 gave us so many joyous and hilarious memories to cherish.
Marjorie is predeceased by her husband, Reggie, of 48 yrs, her parents, and her son Lawrence E. Jones. She is also predeceased by all six of her younger siblings, Eloise Brystol, Shirley Martin, Mary Camber, Donald Dudley, Frank Dudley, and Jean Wilcox.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Kenneth Jones of Indianapolis and Deborah Jones Lucas Conn of Tucson; five grandchildren, Michael (Rebecca) Jones of Michigan, Kathryn (Jeff) Herrod of Florida, Gregory (Bethany) Jones of Indiana, Stephen (Candace) Lucas and Stephanie Lucas of Arizona. She also leaves behind eleven great grandchildren; Alex & Trey Romero-Jones; Chloe, Devon, Gwen, Silas, & Owen Jones; and Rhyleigh, Ariston, Ellie, & Houston Lucas. Marjorie is also survived by in-laws Naomi Dudley of Florida and Wesley (Elizabeth) Locke of Vermont, along with many, many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10am at the Knight Funeral Home, 903 Hartford Ave, White River Jct., VT followed by a brief graveside dedication at Hartford Cemetery on Maple Street (Rte 14).
For those wishing to make a charitable donation in lieu of flowers, Marge & Reg were lifelong patrons of the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, the Humane Society, as well as many Veteran organizations.
